A vital trait of a leader is the ability to communicate research effectively, ensuring that it reaches diverse audiences and drives broader societal impact. I have received multiple awards for my scientific presentations and communicated my research through various media outlets, including TV programs such as Channel 4’s What Killed the Whale and BBC Countryfile, radio programs like Radio 4’s The Today Programme and The World at One, as well as interviews in prominent print media including The Guardian and BBC. My work has reached an audience of over 20 million people, demonstrating my ability to communicate complex scientific issues to the public in an engaging and accessible manner.

I have presented at more than 20 conferences and public lectures, engaging directly with both scientific and non-scientific audiences. This includes my participation in major public events like the Plastic Ocean Festival and talks with organisations like Cornwall Wildlife Trust. I am also an advisor for the Blue Planet 3 series, specifically related to chemical pollution in the marine environment. Through these platforms, my research has influenced public perceptions of environmental issues and has contributed to wider efforts to address marine pollution.
